Acoustic Transformation in Multipurpose Room
Project Overview
The users of a multipurpose hall in Amatrice were experiencing significant sound challenges. The shared nature of the space, with multiple groups conducting different activities simultaneously, resulted in excessive noise levels and poor acoustic comfort. The space required an acoustic solution that balanced functionality with a modern, stylish design.
Challenge
The main challenge was addressing the overlapping sounds from diverse activities occurring in the same hall. The solution needed to ensure improved acoustic separation and clarity without compromising the room’s visual appeal.
Scope of Work
- Evaluate the hall’s acoustic profile and identify problem areas.
- Design and implement an acoustic solution tailored to the hall’s multifunctional usage.
Solution
DECIBEL proposed a combination of Echo Moon panels of varying sizes, heights, and colours to create a dynamic acoustic and visual effect.
These Echo Moon Panels (120 cm and 80 cm diameter) were strategically positioned to optimise sound absorption across the room. The varied dimensions and custom colours enhanced the room’s aesthetics, creating a vibrant yet harmonious environment. The design-forward approach ensured the panels contributed to the room's overall style while delivering a significant acoustic improvement. The result was a space that not only managed sound more effectively but also became a visually striking and functional environment for diverse activities.
The Role of Acoustics in Multipurpose Spaces
Multipurpose rooms require versatile acoustic solutions to accommodate different activities simultaneously. By integrating high-performance panels that double as design elements, spaces can achieve both aesthetic and functional goals, ensuring comfort and usability for all users.
