Acoustic Treatment in Audiological Facility
Project Overview
A private hospital specialising in audiology and hearing diagnostics sought an advanced acoustic treatment solution for its testing rooms. The objective was to create a controlled environment with reduced sound pressure and reverberation time to ensure precise audiological measurements. To achieve this, DECIBEL provided a tailored acoustic treatment plan, focusing on sound insulation and reverberation reduction through specially designed wall panels. The solution aimed to create an ideal space for hearing assessments, meeting both clinical standards and aesthetic preferences.
Challenge
The hospital’s audiology rooms needed significant sound pressure reduction and reverberation control to achieve optimal conditions for hearing tests. Due to the high standards required for accurate audiological measurements, it was essential to precisely manage sound absorption and minimise external noise interference. The project required the implementation of materials that not only delivered the acoustic performance necessary for testing environments but also aligned with the hospital’s visual and functional requirements.
Scope of Work
- Acoustic Assessment: Detailed analysis of the sound environment in the audiology rooms, focusing on reducing sound pressure and reverberation time for enhanced test accuracy.
- Material Selection: High-quality acoustic wall panels with a thickness of 40 mm, framed in metal profiles to ensure stability and acoustic consistency.
- Design and Composition: Visually pleasing layout by arranging the framed panels into a colourful composition, balancing aesthetics with functionality.
- Installation: Installation of the panels in line with the hospital's specifications, ensuring seamless coverage and uniform sound control throughout the rooms.
- Testing and Calibration: Post-installation sound tests to validate noise reduction and reverberation control, confirming that the treated spaces met diagnostic standards.
Result
The acoustic treatment delivered exceptional sound pressure reduction and minimised reverberation, creating a stable environment for accurate and reliable hearing assessments. The colourful wall panel composition not only met acoustic standards but also enhanced the aesthetics of the testing rooms, contributing to a more pleasant and professional environment. The hospital was pleased with the solution’s effectiveness, with staff reporting improved accuracy in audiological measurements and a more comfortable space for patients.
The Importance of Acoustic Treatment in Hospital Audiology Rooms
Audiology testing rooms in healthcare facilities require precise acoustic treatment to ensure clear, undistorted sound for accurate diagnostics. Without effective reverberation control, background noise and echoes can compromise test results, affecting patient care. DECIBEL’s tailored acoustic solutions are designed to create stable sound environments in clinical settings, enabling medical professionals to conduct reliable hearing assessments in line with healthcare standards.
Soundproofing for Enhanced Patient Experience
In healthcare settings, the proper soundproofed environment can also impact the comfort and overall experience of patients and staff. By reducing noise interference within audiology rooms, hospitals can improve both the quality of diagnostics and the patient’s experience. With DECIBEL’s solutions, healthcare facilities can achieve sound insulation and aesthetic appeal, creating a welcoming and effective testing environment.
