Project Overview

This project was a collaborative effort with a team of architects designing a modern bank office. DECIBEL was tasked with improving the acoustics across various spaces while maintaining an elegant and cohesive interior style. Using a diverse selection of products, including Textile Echo Moon Panels, Echo Cloud Acoustic hanging baffles, Acoustic PET-Felt desk separators, WAVO and CIRCULO Perforated Wood Panels, and ECHO WALL Fabric-Covered Panels, the installation successfully enhanced the acoustic comfort and aesthetics throughout the office.

Challenge

Large-scale office projects with multiple areas present significant challenges:

  • Diverse Acoustic Requirements: Different zones, such as meeting rooms, open workspaces, and break areas, required tailored solutions to meet their unique acoustic needs.
  • Precision in Acoustic Engineering: Each area needed precise calculations and modelling to ensure optimal reverberation times and noise control, especially in a shared office environment.
  • Uncompromising Design Standards: The architects had high expectations for maintaining a sleek, modern style, which meant each acoustic element had to blend seamlessly with the overall interior design.

Scope of Work

  • Acoustic modelling and detailed engineering for multiple office zones.
  • Production of customised acoustic panels in specific shapes, sizes, and colours.
  • Quick and precise installation.
  • Follow-up measurement to verify the desired result.

Solution

DECIBEL approached the project by collaborating closely with the architects to balance acoustic performance with design elegance.

  • For conference rooms, Textile Echo Moon Panels on walls and ceilings reduced reverberation and ensured clear communication during meetings.
  • Open workspaces featured WAVO and CIRCULO Wood Panels, combining sound control with a natural and professional aesthetic.
  • In break areas, ECHO WALL Panels in custom colours added a playful touch while maintaining a quiet, relaxing atmosphere.

The project required careful planning and execution to maintain consistency across different zones while achieving optimal acoustic results.

Result

The completed bank office achieved exceptional acoustic performance and stylish interior design. Reduced background noise levels, eliminated echo and improved sound clarity benefit employees and clients, creating a more productive and welcoming environment.

Products Used:

  • Textile Echo Moon Panels
  • Echo Cloud Acoustic Hanging Baffles
  • WAVO and CIRCULO Perforated Wood Panels - white and oak
  • ECHO WALL Fabric-Covered Panels
  • PET-Felt Acoustic Desk Separators

The architects commended DECIBEL for delivering a solution that met their aesthetic vision without compromising acoustic quality.

The Complexity of Acoustic Design in Large Offices

Large offices with diverse spaces require a nuanced approach to acoustic treatment. Open layouts often suffer from excessive noise levels, while private rooms need precise soundproofing and absorption. A tailored solution, such as combining materials like fabric panels for softness and wood panels for natural resonance control, ensures that each area meets its functional and acoustic needs.

By integrating acoustic elements into the design phase, architects and acoustic engineers can create spaces that are not only productive but also visually engaging. This holistic approach elevates the workplace experience for both employees and visitors.
