Project Overview

A dynamic company approached DECIBEL concerning acoustic comfort in their soon-to-open office in Sofia, Bulgaria. With an extremely tight deadline of just 10 days, we successfully executed a comprehensive acoustic solution involving site visits, consultations, custom production, and installation. This swift project turnaround was possible by prioritising their order and maintaining seamless communication.

 

Challenge

The primary challenge was meeting the stringent deadline while ensuring optimal acoustic treatment across one large priority room and three smaller rooms. The large room required innovative solutions to replace raster panels and address noise reflections caused by air pockets in the ceiling. Additionally, the glass partitions presented unique challenges for effective acoustic treatment.

 

Scope of Work

  • Conducted a site visit and acoustic evaluation.
  • Provided samples, colour options, and a tailored proposal.
  • Designed and produced custom acoustic panels within a 10-day timeframe.
  • Installed solutions across:
    • Large Room: Replaced raster panels with non-standard textile acoustic panels (60x60x4 cm).
    • Glass Partitions: Attached 50x50x4 cm textile acoustic panels using suction cups.
    • Ceiling: Installed Visto Panels to mitigate air noise caused by ceiling air pockets.
    • Smaller Rooms: Installed 3D effect textile acoustic panels alternating in thickness (50x50 cm, 4 cm and 5 cm).

 

Solution

Our approach prioritised efficiency without compromising quality. We replaced standard raster panels with custom-sized textile acoustic panels, tailored for enhanced sound absorption. To address air noise, Visto Panels were strategically placed on the ceiling, while suction-mounted panels provided effective sound control on the glass partitions. The smaller rooms were treated with alternating panel thicknesses, creating a visually striking 3D effect while optimising acoustic performance.

Acoustic comfort is critical for modern office environments, where noise control significantly impacts productivity and well-being. By incorporating textile acoustic panels and addressing problem areas such as glass surfaces and air pockets, we ensured the space met recommended acoustic standards. This project demonstrates how rapid turnarounds can still deliver exceptional results when engineering precision and design creativity align.

 

Results

The project was completed on schedule, just before the office opening. The client was highly satisfied with the immediate improvement in acoustic comfort and the aesthetic appeal of the solutions. Within a month, the client reached out for further acoustic treatments in additional premises, reinforcing their trust in DECIBEL's expertise.
